Noah (the movie)

You have probably already heard about the story of Noah, but not the one described by screenwriters who in fact, I think, made a mistake trying to present the story as a legend. By the movie title you can expect a historical biblical story, but instead it has a mix of historical facts and epic fiction tale.

Let’s just talk about the movie. The movie is visually appealing with an interesting point of view from the director (Darren Aronofsky). I specially like the part when human history is presented to us in about 2 minutes. Scenes are near to reality, specially the ones with the flood and the ark. Like 300 movie style, the film shows also a battle between rock entities and town of Sodom where special effects are great. With a great casting, acting is good. I think Russell Crowe takes the cake! Emma Watson also appears in this movie, but I fail to appreciate her acting knowing Emma’s acting quality.

This story talks about the flood mentioned on the bible. By divine revelation Noah is commanded to build an ark to save his family and the animal kingdom. Noah is presented as a strong man devoted to his god, who is willing to kill to fulfill the will of God. We can see it when he tries to sacrifice his grandson. Also because his strength his able to face Sodom’s armies…

Rotten tomatoes reported an average rating of 6.6/10. I think it is because people’s expectation are much bigger when they hear big titles, but I would qualify this movie 8.5/10. This movie reported $359.2 millions at the box office.

So, overall? Although it is an interesting movie in several aspects, from this movie you won’t learn anything. You just have to watch it as it is, like the Da Vinci code, but that is it, just like a movie if you want to enjoy it.
